Interest is added monthly at APY ÷ 12. Runs in your browser; nothing is sent or saved.

How to use it

A date or an amount

  1. Set the goal

The total you want: an emergency fund, a trip, a car, a down payment. Put in what you have already set aside for it.

  2. Add the monthly amount

What you can move into it each month. Use the rate your savings account pays; leave it at zero for cash in a jar.

  3. Or pick the date

Choose the month you need the money and the tool turns it around: here is the monthly deposit that gets you there.

Keep it going every month

Questions

Good to know

What is a sinking fund?

A savings pot for a known cost that is coming: insurance due in March, holiday gifts, a car repair fund. Saving a little each month means the bill never lands all at once.

Should the emergency fund come first?

Most plans say yes: one month of essential costs first, then debt, then three to six months. The spreadsheet below holds several goals side by side with their own dates.

Does the tool count interest?

Yes, added monthly at the APY you enter divided by twelve. Rates change, so treat it as a guide.
