How to use it

Everything on one page

  1. List what you own

Bank balances, retirement and investment accounts, your home at what it would sell for today, vehicles at what they would fetch.

  2. List what you owe

Mortgage balance, car loans, cards, student loans, anything with a balance. Use today's balances, not the original amounts.

  3. Read the ratio

Debt-to-asset under 40% is comfortable; over 80% means most of what you own is borrowed against. Net worth going up month after month is the number that matters.

Questions

Good to know

Should I include my home and car?

Yes, at a realistic sale value, with their loans on the other side. Some people track a second figure without the home to see liquid net worth; the spreadsheet does both by category.

My net worth is negative. Is that bad?

It is common early on, especially with student loans or a new mortgage. What matters is the direction: track it monthly and watch the line.

Is anything stored?

No. The calculator runs in your browser and nothing is sent or saved. To keep the history, use the Net Worth Tracker spreadsheet below.
